Our client, a growing and reputable Project Freight Forwarder situated in Hamburg, is seeking a skilled and motivated Operational Specialist to join their expert team. Renowned for their excellence in handling complex and oversized cargo (OOG) and specialised project logistics, the company is dedicated to delivering tailored and efficient solutions to clients across diverse industries.
Position Overview:
The Operational Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end operational processes for out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo and project shipments. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, well-versed in freight forwarding operations, and possess a strong understanding of international shipping regulations and logistics. They will collaborate with clients, carriers, and internal teams to ensure seamless and efficient execution of complex project shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operational Execution: Plan and coordinate OOG and project cargo shipments, ensuring efficient handling, transport, and delivery.
• Routing & Scheduling: Identify optimal transportation routes, assess risks, and ensure timely delivery of shipments.
• Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and carriers, providing regular updates on shipment progress.
• Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage all necessary shipping documentation, including permits, customs declarations, and insurance paperwork.
• Cost Control: Optimize operational costs by negotiating with carriers and service providers while maintaining high service standards.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to international regulations and company policies for project cargo operations.
• Problem Resolution: Address and resolve operational challenges, ensuring client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Requirements:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in freight forwarding, specifically in OOG and project cargo operations
• Strong knowledge of global logistics, transportation modes, and industry best practices
• Proficiency in managing complex logistics projects with a focus on oversized and specialized cargo
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills in both German and English (written and spoken)
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and commitment to quality
