Position: Branch Manager – Freight Forwarding
Location: New York, NY
Reports To: Regional Director / Country Manager
Industry: Freight Forwarding & Logistics (Air & Ocean, Import/Export)
Overview:
Responsible for the full leadership, P&L, and operational oversight of the New York branch. The Branch Manager will drive commercial growth, ensure compliance, and maintain service excellence across Air and Ocean freight forwarding operations. This is a high-accountability leadership role requiring a balance of strategic direction, hands-on operational oversight, and client-facing commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full P&L ownership of the New York branch; manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets
- Lead Air & Ocean import/export operations, ensuring compliance with TSA, FMC, CBP, and global trade regulations
- Drive branch sales performance in coordination with the regional and national sales teams
- Direct, mentor, and manage a team of operations, sales, and customer service staff
- Maintain and grow key customer relationships; ensure high service levels and client retention
- Oversee vendor negotiations, carrier relationships, and subcontractor performance
- Lead KPI tracking, quality control, and operational audits to ensure service excellence
- Coordinate with HQ and other branches to support multi-location clients and strategic initiatives
- Ensure full adherence to SOPs, security requirements, and company operational standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 7–10 years in international freight forwarding (Air & Ocean, Import & Export)
- Prior experience managing a branch, department, or P&L in a logistics environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. customs, global compliance, and trade regulations
- Proven leadership skills with ability to build and develop high-performing teams
- Commercial acumen with experience in sales support and client relationship management
- Proficiency in freight forwarding systems (CargoWise, SAP, Cargowise One, etc.)
- Located in or able to commute daily to New York, NY
