Business Development Manager – Outside Sales – Air & Ocean Freight

 

Altius Talent is partnering with a leading USA Freight Forwarding company to find an exceptional Business Development Manager (Outside Sales) with a proven ability to secure new business and build relationships in the air and ocean freight sector. This is a hunter role for someone with an existing book of business, an extensive network of industry contacts, and a proven track record of winning new logos. This is not a account manager or sales manager role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Generate new business opportunities by identifying and pursuing high-potential prospects in the air and ocean freight sectors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry players, including steamship linesairlines, and logistics partners.
  • Leverage your existing book of business to open doors and close deals with new clients, turning prospects into long-term customers.
  • Act as a door knocker – someone who takes the initiative to meet prospects face-to-face, present tailored solutions, and win business.
  • Negotiate contracts, rates, and terms to secure favorable agreements for both the company and clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of services and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Drive business development and growth with a focus on air and ocean freight.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in outside sales within USA Freight Forwarding, specifically in air and ocean freight (not domestic 3PL).
  • Proven ability to generate new business, including a book of business and strong industry relationships.
  • Track record of success as a new logo winner, with a history of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Highly motivated, hunter mentality, and a proven ability to open doors and close high-value deals.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to sell complex logistics solutions.
  • Energetic, driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
