Location: Nuremberg, Germany
Role Overview:
We are partnering with a respected mid-sized freight forwarder based in Nuremberg to recruit an experienced Air & Sea Import Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full import process for air and sea shipments, including customs clearance, ensuring smooth and compliant operations for the company’s diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Import Operations: Manage the end-to-end air and sea freight import processes, including shipment tracking, communication with overseas agents, and handling documentation.
- Customs Clearance: Complete customs declarations and ensure compliance with all German and EU customs regulations.
- Customer Service: Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing updates, resolving issues, and ensuring high service standards.
- Documentation: Prepare and verify all necessary documents, including invoices, packing lists, and Bills of Lading.
- Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, carriers, and external service providers to ensure timely and efficient shipment handling.
- Problem Solving: Address any issues or discrepancies in the import process and provide solutions promptly.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience in air and sea import operations within the freight forwarding industry.
- Customs Knowledge: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with German and EU customs procedures and systems.
- Languages: Fluency in German (required) and proficiency in English for international communication.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in relevant freight forwarding software and tools.
- Certifications: Knowledge of Dangerous Goods handling (preferred but not essential).
